The Old Bus Depot Markets specialist Wool Day draws visitors and exhibitors from all over NSW, Victoria and South Australia. It is the largest theme event on the calendar and features fine quality Australian made products from this most iconic Australian raw material. In addition to the more traditional applications for wool, there will be pieces made by some of Australia's leading textile artists working with wool.
There will be over 40 specialist wool stalls offering products such as: handfelted garments and accessories, designer knitwear, millinery, hand dyed yarns, beanies, fun coloured socks, exquisite scarves made from silk and wool, weaving, handfelted tea pot covers, sheepskin slippers, specialist yarns for the region's knitters. Regional Guilds will demonstrate on the day.
A focus on the very young ones and their parents, offering a host of hand crafted and imaginative products for children. Have you ever seen a superbly hand crafted Noah's Ark? There will also be original artwork for children's rooms, baby gear, funky baby change bags, hand embroidered christening gowns, and designer children's clothing. Milo the Clown will perform during the day.
Textile artists from around the region gather to exhibit and sell their superbly crafted textile and fibre related art pieces. Visitors are able to speak with artists and craftspeople who weave, embroider, design and execute knitted garments, block print fabric, create basketry, make lace, hand dye fabrics and yarns, felt homewares and accessories. Colour and texture and design play a large part in the creation of textiles, and there will be many wonderful examples. Regional Guilds will demonstrate their specialty and be available to assist interested visitors with questions.
